Pilates — What’s It All About?
Pilates is an exercise programme that’s particularly beneficial for several reasons. Done correctly, it:
- helps to maintain flexibility
- helps you to move more freely
- strengthens body muscles — particularly around the core
- can improve posture
- can ease joint and back pain
- is fun, and makes you feel great
Although brilliant as an isolated exercise format in its own right, Pilates is also particularly good as a rehab programme after injury or medical procedure. It is also an excellent tool used to complement other forms of exercise — golfers, footballers, tennis players, runners, and so on can all benefit from Pilates in their exercise regime.
